Instrument panel switch

WARNING

• Before closing the liftgate, make sure all passengers have their hands, arms, and other body parts completely inside the vehicle. Confirm that no person or object is within the liftgate's path before starting the closing operation.
• Never leave children unattended inside the vehicle. They could operate the liftgate switches or other controls without understanding the consequences, potentially causing a serious accident or injury.

NOTE: The transmission must be in the P (Park) position before the power liftgate can be opened, closed, or reversed.

The power liftgate will not operate when the vehicle's battery voltage is too low to support the powered opening or closing sequence.

Liftgate opener switch

Power Open: The power liftgate moves automatically from the fully closed position to the fully open position in approximately 5–8 seconds. Allow the liftgate to complete its movement and make sure the area above and behind the Nissan Murano is clear before activating the function.

The power-opening sequence can be started with the Intelligent Key, the instrument panel switch, or the exterior liftgate opener switch A. A chime sounds when the command is accepted and the powered opening operation begins.

• The liftgate can be opened with the instrument panel switch, the liftgate opener switch A while the Intelligent Key is within operating range, or the liftgate button on the Intelligent Key, even when the vehicle is locked. In this situation, only the liftgate unlocks and opens. After the liftgate is closed again, the remainder of the vehicle stays locked.
• The liftgate button on the Intelligent Key must be pressed and held for 1 second before the power-opening sequence begins.
• If the Intelligent Key is outside its operating range, the liftgate must already be unlocked before it can be opened with the exterior liftgate opener switch A.
• The exterior liftgate opener switch A can operate the power-opening function only when the Power Back Door feature is set to ON through the "Vehicle Settings" menu in the vehicle information display.

Liftgate close and lock switch

Power Close: The power liftgate moves automatically from the fully open position toward the secondary latch position. When it reaches that position, the cinching motor engages and draws the liftgate securely into the primary latch position. The complete power-closing operation takes approximately 7–10 seconds. It can be started with the Intelligent Key button, the instrument panel switch, the liftgate close switch B, or the liftgate lock switch C. A chime sounds to indicate that the closing sequence has begun.

• If the liftgate opener switch A is pressed while the cinching motor is operating, the motor will disengage and release the latch.
• The liftgate button on the Intelligent Key must be pressed and held for 1 second before the power liftgate begins to close.
• The liftgate close switch B can be used to close the liftgate only when the Power Back Door feature is enabled in the vehicle settings.
• Pressing the liftgate lock switch C will close the liftgate and lock all doors, provided the Intelligent Key is within the required operating range.

Reverse: If the Intelligent Key button, instrument panel switch, liftgate opener switch A, liftgate close switch B, or liftgate lock switch C is pressed while the power liftgate is opening or closing, the liftgate will stop immediately. Pressing the Intelligent Key button, instrument panel switch, liftgate opener switch  A, or liftgate close switch B a second time will cause the liftgate to move in the opposite direction. A confirmation chime will sound when the reversing operation begins.

Auto Reverse: If the system detects an obstacle while the power liftgate is opening or closing, a warning chime will sound. The liftgate will stop, reverse its direction of movement, and then stop again to help reduce the risk of contact with the obstruction.

A pinch strip is installed along each side of the liftgate opening. If either strip detects an obstacle during the power-closing sequence, the liftgate will automatically reverse direction and stop. Keep the strips clean and unobstructed so they can respond correctly during normal Nissan Murano liftgate operation.

NOTE: If a pinch strip is damaged, disconnected, or removed, the power-close function will not operate. Have the affected component inspected before attempting to use powered closing again.

WARNING The auto-reverse system cannot detect objects within certain small areas immediately before the liftgate reaches the fully closed position. Before closing the liftgate, make sure every passenger has their hands, fingers, arms, and other body parts inside the vehicle, and confirm that no object is positioned within the closing path.

Manual Mode: If powered operation is unavailable, the liftgate can be opened or closed manually. Power operation may become temporarily unavailable after the system detects several obstacles during a single powered cycle or when the vehicle battery voltage is too low to operate the liftgate motors reliably.

If the liftgate opener switch A is pressed while the liftgate is opening or closing under power, the powered movement will be canceled. Once power operation has stopped, the liftgate can be moved manually as needed.

To open the liftgate manually, press the liftgate opener switch A to release the latch, and then raise the liftgate by hand. Lift it steadily and maintain control throughout its movement.

To close the liftgate manually, lower it carefully and press it downward firmly until it is securely latched. Before driving the Nissan Murano, verify that the liftgate is fully closed and cannot be lifted without operating the opener switch.

Auto Power Liftgate System Battery Power Saving Mode: If the liftgate remains open for an extended period, approximately 12 hours, the vehicle enters a battery power-saving mode. This function helps limit battery discharge by automatically interrupting the electrical power supply to the power liftgate system.

When power to the liftgate has been switched off by the power-saving mode, operate the liftgate manually. After one complete manual operation has been performed, the powered liftgate function will be restored and can resume normal operation.

NOTE: When battery voltage falls below approximately 11 V, the power liftgate may remain unavailable even after the system attempts to return to normal operation. In this condition, manual liftgate operation may be required until adequate battery voltage is restored.
