ProPILOT Assist systems overview
Each ProPILOT Assist feature is designed to support the driver in a specific way during highway travel. Depending on the active function, the system may assist with maintaining speed, managing the distance from a vehicle ahead, helping keep the Nissan Murano near the center of its lane, or supporting certain lane-change maneuvers.
The following overview summarizes the purpose of each available feature. Refer to the corresponding section of the Owner's Manual for complete operating instructions, conditions, warnings, and system limitations.
Feature availability depends on the ProPILOT Assist version installed in the vehicle. Some functions are available with ProPILOT Assist 1.1, while additional capabilities are offered only with ProPILOT Assist 2.1.
- Conventional (fixed speed) Cruise Control:
- Allows the driver to maintain a selected fixed speed without continuously pressing the accelerator pedal. The driver remains responsible for monitoring traffic, adjusting speed when necessary, and maintaining a safe distance from vehicles ahead.
- Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC):
- Helps the driver maintain a selected following distance from the vehicle ahead. When a slower vehicle is detected in the same lane, ICC can reduce the speed of the Nissan Murano to help preserve the selected distance.
- Can decelerate the vehicle to a complete stop when the vehicle ahead slows down and comes to a standstill.
- Extended Stop:
- Allows the vehicle to begin moving again automatically when it has been stopped on the highway for less than approximately 30 seconds, provided the applicable operating conditions remain satisfied.
- Speed Limit Assist:
- An Intelligent Cruise Control feature that detects a change in the speed limit, displays the recognized speed-limit sign, and allows the detected limit to be applied to the vehicle's set speed either automatically or manually, depending on the selected settings.
- Speed Adjust by Route:
- An Intelligent Cruise Control feature that adjusts vehicle speed according to road curvature on freeway bends and interchanges. The function uses road information supplied by the in-vehicle Map locator system to support smoother speed management along the planned route.
- Steering Assist:
- Provides steering support to help keep the Nissan Murano near the center of the detected traveling lane while the required road markings and operating conditions are present.
- When traffic, road conditions, applicable laws, and the system's operating requirements permit, the
driver may remove their hands from the steering wheel. Even in this mode, the driver must continue
watching the road, monitoring surrounding traffic, and remaining prepared to take control
immediately.
(A feature of ProPILOT Assist 2.1)
- Lane Change Assist:
- Helps the driver perform an intended lane change after the turn signal is activated and the required operating conditions are met. The driver must continue checking the mirrors, blind spots, and surrounding traffic throughout the maneuver. (A feature of ProPILOT Assist 2.1)
- Passing Assist:
- Helps the driver initiate and complete a lane change when a slower-moving vehicle is detected ahead, provided the system's operating conditions are satisfied. The driver remains responsible for confirming that the adjacent lane is clear and that the maneuver can be completed safely. (A feature of ProPILOT Assist 2.1)
