Basic information

Periodically remove loose dust, crumbs, and surface debris from the interior trim, plastic components, and seats with a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush. Wipe vinyl and leather surfaces, if equipped, with a clean, soft cloth lightly dampened with a mild soap solution, then remove any remaining moisture and residue with a separate dry, soft cloth.

Leather upholstery, if equipped, requires regular and careful cleaning to preserve its natural appearance and prevent dirt from becoming embedded in the surface. Prompt attention to spills and accumulated dust can also help reduce premature wear.

Before applying any fabric protector inside the Nissan Murano, read the product manufacturer's instructions and restrictions carefully. Certain protectors contain chemicals that may stain, bleach, discolor, or otherwise alter the seat material.

Clean the meter and gauge lens only with a clean, soft cloth dampened with water. Use light pressure to avoid scratching or clouding the lens surface.

WARNING

• Do not apply wax-based or silicone-based products to surfaces inside the vehicle. These products may damage interior materials, electrical equipment, or electronic components.
• Do not use excessive water, acidic cleaning products, or hot steam cleaners on the seats. Moisture or chemicals may damage the seat structure or the occupant classification sensor. This may interfere with air bag system operation and could result in serious personal injury.

CAUTION

• Never use benzine, paint thinner, or any similar solvent to clean the Nissan Murano interior.
• Small particles of dirt can act as abrasives and damage leather surfaces, so remove them promptly and gently. Do not use saddle soap, automotive wax, polish, oil, cleaning fluid, solvent, detergent, or ammonia-based cleaner, as these products may damage the leather's natural finish.
• Do not apply a fabric protector unless its use is specifically recommended by the manufacturer of the interior material.
• Do not use glass cleaner or plastic cleaner on the meter or gauge lens covers. These products may discolor, cloud, scratch, or otherwise damage the lens surface.
• Never use chloride-containing solutions to clean aluminum decorative components, if equipped. Chloride may stain or damage the finish.

Air fresheners

Many air fresheners contain solvents that may affect interior surfaces. When using an air freshener in the Nissan Murano, handle and position it carefully to prevent contact with trim, upholstery, instrument-panel materials, or other finished components.

• Hanging air fresheners may cause permanent staining or discoloration if they rest against an interior surface. Position the product so it hangs freely and cannot touch surrounding trim while the vehicle is parked or moving.
• Liquid air fresheners are commonly attached to the air vents. If the liquid leaks or spills, it may immediately damage or discolor nearby interior surfaces. Read and follow all instructions supplied by the air freshener manufacturer before installation and use.

Power moonroof

The moonroof sunshade is made from a tricot material that requires gentle cleaning. Avoid aggressive rubbing or unsuitable chemicals that could alter its texture, color, or appearance.

CAUTION Observe the following precautions to help prevent damage to the moonroof sunshade during cleaning:

• Do not rub the material with a cloth. Rubbing may damage the surface fibers or spread an existing stain over a larger area.
• Never use benzine, paint thinner, or a similar chemical product on the sunshade. These substances may discolor the material and damage its surface.
• For water-based stains, gently pat the affected area with a clean, soft cloth dampened with warm water. Press a clean, dry cloth against the material to absorb as much moisture as possible, then allow the area to air-dry completely.
• For oil-based stains, gently pat the affected area with a clean, soft cloth dampened with warm water. Do not scrub the material. Press a clean, dry cloth against the surface to absorb as much remaining moisture as possible, then allow it to air-dry.

Floor mats

Basic information

WARNING Follow these precautions to prevent floor mat interference with the pedals, which could lead to a collision, serious injury, or death:

• NEVER place one floor mat on top of another in the front driver's position. Do not install a floor mat upside down, backward, or in an orientation different from its intended position.
• Use only Genuine NISSAN floor mats or equivalent mats designed specifically for the correct Nissan Murano model and model year. An incorrectly shaped mat may move or interfere with the pedals.
• Position each mat correctly in its floor well and secure it with the applicable floor mat positioning hook.
• Make sure the driver's floor mat does not contact, obstruct, or restrict the movement of the accelerator or brake pedal.
• Inspect the floor mats periodically to confirm that they remain correctly positioned and securely attached.
• After cleaning or servicing the interior, inspect every floor mat again and make sure it has been reinstalled correctly before driving.

Floor mat installation

The vehicle is equipped with floor mat positioning hooks. The quantity, design, and location of these hooks may vary according to the seating position and vehicle configuration.

When installing Genuine NISSAN floor mats, follow the instructions supplied with the mats and complete the following steps:

1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position, select P (Park), and apply the parking brake fully. Position the floor mat in the appropriate floor well so its grommet holes align correctly with the positioning hook or hooks.

2. Attach the mat's grommet holes securely to the positioning hooks. Confirm that the mat lies flat, faces the correct direction, and cannot slide freely across the floor.

3. Check carefully that the floor mat does not interfere with pedal movement. With the ignition switch still in the OFF position, the shift position in P (Park), and the parking brake applied, fully depress and release each pedal. The mat must not restrict pedal travel or prevent any pedal from returning completely to its normal position.

Seat belts

Clean the seat belt webbing with a sponge lightly dampened in a mild soap solution. Wipe the belts gently without soaking them, then extend them and allow them to dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area before use.

WARNING Do not allow wet seat belts to retract into the retractor. NEVER use bleach, dye, or chemical solvents to clean the belts, because these products may severely weaken the webbing and reduce the protection provided by the restraint system.

Cleaning the seat tracks

CAUTION Clean the seat tracks periodically to prevent accumulated dirt and debris from restricting seat adjustment.

Use a high-powered vacuum cleaner periodically to remove dust, sand, crumbs, and other debris from the seat tracks. Foreign material inside the tracks may make the seats difficult to adjust or reduce their range of movement. A suitable wet cleaning agent may be used when necessary, provided it is applied carefully and does not leave excessive moisture in the mechanism.
