The following situations could cause the seat belt warning function to operate even when no passenger is actually sitting in the front passenger seat. These conditions may affect how the seat sensor interprets the seat area:

• Heavy objects placed directly on the front passenger seat cushion.
• Someone pushing down on, leaning against, or pulling on the front passenger seat.
• An object placed under the front passenger seat where it may interfere with normal seat sensor operation.
• An object wedged between the seat cushion and center console, or between the seat cushion and the door.
• An object hanging from the seat, resting against the seatback, or placed in the seatback pocket.
• A child restraint or another object pressing against the rear of the front passenger seatback.

Pregnant women

NISSAN recommends that pregnant women use seat belts whenever they ride in the vehicle. The seat belt should fit snugly, with the lap belt positioned as low as possible around the hips rather than across the waist. The shoulder belt should be routed over the shoulder and across the chest, never across the abdominal area. Pregnant occupants should contact their doctor for specific recommendations about proper belt use in the Nissan Murano.

Injured persons

NISSAN recommends that injured persons use seat belts. Because the correct belt position may depend on the type and location of the injury, injured occupants should check with their doctor for specific recommendations before riding in the vehicle.
