Basic information

• No exposed flames, no sparks

WARNING Do not expose the battery to open flames, electrical sparks, or any other ignition source. Hydrogen gas produced by the battery is highly explosive.

An explosion near the battery may cause severe injury, burns, or permanent loss of eyesight.

• Shield eyes

WARNING Handle the battery with extreme care. Always wear suitable protective glasses to shield your eyes from battery acid and injury caused by a possible explosion.

• Keep away from children

WARNING Never allow children to touch, handle, or play near the battery.

Store and service the battery only in an area that is safely out of the reach of children.

• Battery acid

WARNING Do not allow battery fluid to contact your skin, eyes, clothing, upholstery, or painted vehicle surfaces.

Battery fluid contains sulfuric acid, which can cause severe burns or permanent loss of eyesight. After touching the battery or a battery cap, do not touch or rub your eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly. If acid contacts your eyes, skin, or clothing, immediately flush the affected area with clean water for at least 15 minutes and obtain medical attention.

Battery fluid is highly corrosive. Contact with the eyes or skin may result in serious burns or loss of vision.

• Note operating instructions

WARNING Before inspecting, disconnecting, charging, or otherwise handling the battery, read these instructions carefully and follow every applicable precaution to ensure safe and correct handling.

• Explosive gas

WARNING Hydrogen gas generated by the battery is explosive. Ignition of this gas may cause a violent explosion resulting in blindness, burns, or other serious personal injury.

• Keep the battery surface clean and dry. Remove accumulated residue carefully using a solution of baking soda and water.
• Make sure the battery terminal connections remain clean, free of contamination, and securely tightened.
• If the Nissan Murano will not be used for 30 days or longer, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal cable to help prevent the battery from discharging.

NOTE: Avoid conditions that may gradually discharge the battery and leave the vehicle unable to start, including the following:

1. Installing or using electronic accessories for extended periods while the engine is not running, including phone chargers, GPS devices, DVD players, and similar equipment that continues to consume battery power.

2. Driving the vehicle infrequently or using it mainly for short trips that may not allow the battery to maintain an adequate charge.

Under these conditions, the battery may require charging to preserve its condition and maintain reliable starting performance.

The Nissan Murano is equipped with a battery cover designed to protect the battery from engine heat and help shield it from damage during a collision.

Whenever the battery is replaced or removed for service, reinstall the battery cover correctly in its original position.

If acid contacts your eyes, skin, or clothing, immediately flush the affected area with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
• Whenever working on or near the battery, wear suitable eye protection and remove rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces, and other metal jewelry.
• Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling these components.
• Keep the battery and all related service materials out of the reach of children.
• Do not tilt or tip the battery, as battery fluid may leak and cause injury or vehicle damage.

NOTE: Do not attempt to open or remove the top of the battery.

This battery does not have removable vent caps and is not designed to be opened for fluid inspection or refilling.

Jump starting

If the Nissan Murano requires jump starting, follow the procedure described in "Jump starting". If the engine still does not start after the correct jump-starting procedure has been completed, the battery may require replacement. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for inspection and service.
