WARNING

• Radio waves may interfere with certain electronic medical devices. Anyone who uses a pacemaker or another implanted medical device should contact the device manufacturer before using the Intelligent Key to determine whether radio-frequency transmissions could affect its operation.
• The Intelligent Key transmits radio waves whenever one of its buttons is pressed. The FAA advises that radio-frequency signals may interfere with aircraft navigation and communication equipment. Do not operate the Intelligent Key while aboard an aircraft, and store it in a manner that prevents the buttons from being pressed unintentionally during the flight.
• Never leave the Intelligent Key inside the Nissan Murano when exiting the vehicle. Always take the key with you and confirm that the vehicle is properly secured.
• Whenever parking, entering or leaving the vehicle, or loading and unloading luggage, make sure the transmission is securely placed in the P (Park) position and the parking brake is applied. Failure to take these precautions could allow the vehicle to move or roll unexpectedly, resulting in serious personal injury or property damage.

The Intelligent Key system allows the door locks to be operated through the remote-control buttons or by pressing a request switch on the vehicle, without removing the key from a pocket, handbag, or other convenient carrying location. This provides easier access to the Nissan Murano, although the system's response may vary depending on the surrounding environment, the position of the key, and current operating conditions.

Read and understand the following information before using the Intelligent Key system. Familiarity with its operating requirements and possible sources of interference will help ensure reliable locking, unlocking, and vehicle operation.

CAUTION Always carry the Intelligent Key with you whenever you operate the vehicle. Do not rely on the key remaining inside the passenger compartment or cargo area.

The Intelligent Key can both receive and transmit radio waves. During normal operation, the system exchanges weak radio-frequency signals over varying distances between the key and the vehicle. Strong external signals, nearby electronic devices, or materials that block radio transmission may temporarily interfere with communication between the Intelligent Key and the Nissan Murano under the following conditions:

• When the vehicle or Intelligent Key is near a location that transmits strong radio waves, including a television tower, power station, or broadcasting facility.
• When wireless communication equipment, such as a cellular telephone, transceiver, or CB radio, is being carried or operated close to the Intelligent Key.
• When the Intelligent Key is touching, wrapped in, or covered by metallic materials that may obstruct radio-frequency signals.
• When another radio-wave remote-control device is being operated nearby and its signal interferes with communication between the key and the vehicle.
• When the Intelligent Key is placed close to an electrical or electronic appliance, such as a personal computer.
• When the vehicle is parked near a parking meter or other equipment that may emit radio-frequency signals.

If the Intelligent Key does not operate normally under any of these conditions, move the key and vehicle away from the likely source of interference, remove any metallic covering, or stop using nearby wireless equipment before trying the function again. If normal operation cannot be restored, use the mechanical key to lock or unlock the appropriate door.

Intelligent Key battery life depends on how frequently the key is used and the conditions in which it is carried and stored. Under typical operating conditions, the battery lasts approximately two years. When the battery becomes discharged or no longer provides reliable operation, replace it with a new battery.

When the Intelligent Key battery charge becomes low, the "Key Battery Low" indicator appears in the vehicle information display. Because the key continually receives radio-frequency signals, storing it near equipment that produces strong radio waves, including televisions and personal computers, may increase battery consumption and shorten its service life. Keep the Intelligent Key away from such equipment whenever practical.

Up to four Intelligent Keys may be registered for use with one Nissan Murano. Each registered key can be used with the vehicle after it has been properly programmed. For assistance with purchasing, registering, or using additional Intelligent Keys, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer.
