Manual anti-glare rearview mirror

Move the rearview mirror to night position 1 when glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you makes it difficult to see comfortably after dark. This setting changes the mirror angle to reduce the intensity of reflected light reaching the driver's eyes.

Return the mirror to day position 2 when driving during daylight hours or whenever the anti-glare setting is no longer required. The day position provides the clearest available view through the rear window of the Nissan Murano.

WARNING Use the night position only when glare reduction is necessary. Because this position reduces rearward image clarity, leaving it selected under normal lighting conditions may make vehicles and other objects behind you more difficult to see.

Automatic anti-glare rearview mirror

Type A (if so equipped)

The interior rearview mirror is designed to dim automatically during nighttime driving according to the intensity of headlights from a following vehicle. By reducing bright reflections without requiring manual adjustment, the feature can improve rearward visibility and driving comfort. Automatic anti-glare operation is enabled whenever the ignition switch is in the ON position.

NOTE: Do not hang accessories or other objects over sensors 1, and do not spray or apply glass cleaner directly to the sensor surfaces.

Obstructing, coating, or contaminating the sensors may reduce their sensitivity and prevent the automatic dimming feature from operating correctly.

Type B (if so equipped)

The Type B interior mirror also adjusts its level of dimming automatically during nighttime conditions. The amount of glare reduction varies in response to the brightness of headlights from vehicles traveling behind the Nissan Murano. The automatic anti-glare feature becomes active when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position.

NOTE: Keep sensors 1 unobstructed, and do not hang objects in front of them or apply glass-cleaning products directly to the sensors.

Anything that blocks or affects the sensor surfaces can reduce their ability to detect surrounding light accurately, resulting in delayed, limited, or improper automatic dimming.

Outside mirrors

Basic information

The remote controls for the outside mirrors can be operated while the ignition switch is in the OFF, ACC, or ON position. Adjust both mirrors before driving so they provide a clear view of the traffic lanes and surrounding areas beside the vehicle.

Press switch 1 or 2 to select the left or right outside mirror. After the appropriate mirror has been selected, use the larger adjustment switch 3 to move the mirror glass upward, downward, left, or right until the desired viewing angle is obtained.

After completing the adjustment, press the selected switch 1 or 2 again and confirm that its corresponding indicator light is off. Returning the control to this neutral condition helps prevent the mirror from being moved accidentally if adjustment switch 3 is touched.

WARNING

• Never adjust the outside mirrors while driving. Looking away from the road or changing the mirror position while the Nissan Murano is moving may cause a loss of vehicle control and result in an accident.
• Objects visible in the passenger-side outside mirror are closer than they appear. Use particular care before moving to the right, changing lanes, or turning. Do not rely on this mirror alone to estimate distance. Check the interior mirror and look over your shoulder when necessary to confirm the position of nearby vehicles and other objects.

Manual folding outside mirrors (if so equipped)

To fold a manually operated outside mirror, pull the mirror housing carefully toward the door until it reaches the stored position. Before driving the Nissan Murano, return the mirror to its normal outward position and confirm that it is securely seated.

Power folding outside mirrors (if so equipped)

CAUTION

• Do not touch or attempt to reposition the outside mirrors while they are moving under power. Fingers or hands could be pinched, and interfering with the movement may damage the folding mechanism or cause improper operation.
• Do not drive while the outside mirrors are folded against the doors. The stored position significantly restricts rearward and side visibility, making it difficult to observe surrounding traffic and nearby objects.

Press switch 1 to move both outside mirrors outward into their normal driving positions. Allow the mirrors to complete their movement before attempting another operation.

Press switch 1 again to fold both mirrors inward toward the doors for storage.

If either mirror is moved manually, struck, or pushed out of position, its housing may become loose or misaligned at the pivot point, which can interfere with powered operation. To restore the electronic folding sequence, press switch 1 and allow both mirrors to move to the fully folded position. Then press the switch again and allow them to extend completely into the open position.

Automatic folding outside mirrors (if so equipped)

• The outside mirrors fold automatically when the vehicle is locked using the Intelligent Key or an exterior door request switch.
• The outside mirrors unfold automatically when the Nissan Murano is unlocked using the Intelligent Key or a request switch, or when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. The conditions under which the mirrors unfold can be adjusted through the vehicle information display.
• The automatic folding function can be disabled through the corresponding settings in the vehicle information display.

Heated mirrors

The outside mirrors can be heated to help remove frost, fog, or ice from the mirror surfaces. Clearing this moisture or frozen buildup can improve rearward visibility in cold, damp, or changing weather conditions.

Reverse tilt-down feature (if so equipped)

When the outside mirror control switch is set to either the L or R position, shifting the transmission into R (Reverse) causes both outside mirror surfaces to tilt downward. This provides a clearer view of the area close to the sides and rear of the vehicle while reversing.

The mirrors automatically return to their normal driving positions after the transmission is shifted out of R (Reverse).

The outside mirror surfaces will also return to their original positions when any of the following conditions occurs:

• The transmission is shifted into any position other than R (Reverse).
• The outside mirror control switch is moved to the neutral or center position.
• The ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.

The downward mirror positions used during reversing can be adjusted to suit the driver's preferred viewing angle.

With the transmission in R (Reverse), use the outside mirror controls to move the mirror glass to the desired positions. The next time the Nissan Murano is shifted into R (Reverse) with the mirror control switch in the appropriate position, the mirrors will move to the newly selected tilt-down angles.

The revised reverse tilt-down positions can also be linked to a memory seat setting. After adjusting the mirror glass while the transmission is in R (Reverse), shift the vehicle back into P (Park) and allow the mirrors to return to their normal positions. Press the Set switch, and then press memory switch 1 or 2 to associate the new reverse tilt-down positions with the selected memory profile.

NOTE: If the outside mirror control switch is in the neutral or center position, the mirror surfaces will not tilt downward when the transmission is shifted into R (Reverse).
