System temporarily unavailable

Basic Information
When the system detects that one or both radar sensors are blocked or unable to operate correctly, the BSW system is automatically deactivated. This temporary shutdown prevents the system from providing warnings when reliable radar detection cannot be maintained.
The "Unavailable: Side Radar Obstruction" warning message will appear in the vehicle information display to inform the driver that the side radar functions are currently limited.
The system will remain unavailable until the condition affecting the radar sensors is no longer present. During this time, the driver should not rely on the BSW system for monitoring vehicles in adjacent lanes and must continue checking the mirrors and surrounding traffic directly.
The radar sensors may become temporarily blocked by environmental conditions such as splashing water, heavy road spray, mist, or fog. The obstruction may also be caused by ice, frost, snow, dirt, mud, or another object covering the radar sensor area near the rear bumper of the Nissan Murano.
NOTE: If the BSW system stops operating, the RCTA and I-BSI systems will also stop working because these functions rely on the same radar sensor information.
Action to take:
When the environmental condition or physical obstruction is no longer present, the system will resume operation automatically. If necessary, inspect the radar sensor areas and carefully remove any ice, frost, dirt, or other material that may be interfering with detection.
Malfunction
If the BSW system malfunctions, it will switch off automatically. The BSW indicator will appear in the vehicle information display, notifying the driver that the system is not operating and may require inspection.
NOTE: If the BSW system stops working because of a malfunction, the RCTA and I-BSI systems will also become unavailable.
Action to take:
Stop the Nissan Murano in a safe location away from moving traffic, place the shift position in P (Park), turn off the engine, and then restart it. After restarting, check whether the warning message has disappeared and the system has resumed normal operation. If the message continues to appear, have the system inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
System maintenance

Basic Information
The two radar sensors 1 used by the BSW and RCTA systems are located near the rear bumper. To support accurate operation, always keep the areas surrounding both radar sensors clean and free from anything that could block the radar signals.
The radar sensors may be temporarily affected by ambient conditions such as splashing water, road spray, mist, or fog. These conditions can interfere with the sensors even when no permanent damage or malfunction is present.
A blocked condition may also occur when ice, frost, snow, dirt, mud, or other material accumulates over or around the radar sensor locations.
Inspect the areas around the radar sensors whenever a side radar obstruction warning appears. Remove any visible material or object that may be covering the sensor areas, taking care not to scratch, strike, or otherwise damage the surrounding surface.
Do not attach stickers, including transparent films or protective materials, install accessories, or apply additional paint near the radar sensors. Even a material that appears thin or transparent may interfere with radar transmission and reduce the ability of the Nissan Murano BSW and RCTA systems to detect nearby vehicles.
Do not strike, press against, modify, or damage the area around either radar sensor. If the rear bumper or the surrounding sensor area is damaged in a collision, the sensor position or operation may be affected even when the damage appears minor. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer to have the system inspected if this area has been damaged.
