The Nissan Murano is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that monitors the inflation pressure of all four road tires. The spare tire is not monitored by the system.

When the low tire pressure warning light illuminates and the “Tire Pressure Low - Add Air” warning appears in the vehicle information display, one or more tires are significantly underinflated. If equipped, the display also shows the individual pressure of each road tire, excluding the spare tire, using signals transmitted by sensors installed in the wheels. If the Nissan Murano is driven with low tire pressure, the TPMS activates the warning light to alert the driver. The system begins monitoring and providing warnings only after the vehicle is driven at speeds above approximately 16 mph (25 km/h).

• Radio waves transmitted by the TPMS may adversely affect certain electronic medical devices. Anyone who uses a pacemaker should contact the medical-device manufacturer before operating or riding in the vehicle to determine whether the system could influence the device.
• If the low tire pressure warning light illuminates while driving, avoid sudden steering movements, abrupt braking, and rapid changes in speed. Reduce vehicle speed gradually, move away from traffic to a safe location, and stop the Nissan Murano as soon as conditions permit.

  Continuing to drive with one or more underinflated tires can cause permanent tire damage, excessive heat buildup, and an increased risk of tire failure.

  A damaged or failed tire may cause serious vehicle damage, contribute to loss of control, and result in a collision involving serious personal injury.

  Check the inflation pressure of all four road tires. Adjust each tire to the recommended COLD tire pressure listed on the Tire and Loading Information label. After the pressures have been corrected, the low tire pressure warning light should turn off when the system recognizes the updated readings. If the warning light remains illuminated while driving after the pressures have been adjusted, one of the tires may be flat or the TPMS may not be operating correctly.

  If a tire is flat, replace it with the spare tire, if so equipped, or use the emergency tire puncture repair kit, if so equipped, as soon as it is safe to do so. A temporary repair or spare tire should be used only as directed, and the damaged tire should be repaired or replaced promptly. If no tire is flat and all four road tires are inflated to the recommended pressure, have the Nissan Murano inspected because the TPMS may not be operating correctly. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

• When a wheel without a TPMS sensor is installed, such as the spare tire, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System cannot monitor that wheel. The low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately one minute and will then remain steadily illuminated. Have the regular tire and wheel reinstalled or replaced, and have the TPMS reset as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for these services.
• Installing tires that differ from the size, type, or specifications originally recommended by NISSAN may interfere with accurate tire-pressure monitoring and prevent the TPMS from operating as intended. Use tires that meet the correct requirements for the Nissan Murano.
• Genuine NISSAN Emergency Tire Repair Sealant, if so equipped, or an equivalent approved product may be used to make a temporary puncture repair. Do not inject any other type of tire sealant into the tires, because an unsuitable product may contaminate or damage the tire-pressure sensors and cause a TPMS malfunction.
• To reduce the risk of serious injury or death, check the pressure in all four road tires whenever performing routine tire maintenance or responding to a TPMS warning. Do not assume that only the tire identified by the display requires attention. Driving the Nissan Murano with underinflated tires can cause excessive heat buildup, permanent tire damage, sudden tire failure, reduced vehicle control, and improper operation of other vehicle systems.
