If electrical equipment in the Nissan Murano stops operating, check whether the circuit is protected by an open fuse. A fuse interrupts the circuit when an electrical condition causes it to fail, helping protect the associated wiring and components.

Fuse boxes are located in both the passenger compartment and the engine compartment. Spare fuses are supplied in the passenger-compartment fuse box for use when a replacement of the correct rating is required.

When installing a replacement fuse, insert it completely and make sure it is seated securely in the fuse box. A fuse that is not fitted correctly may not provide a reliable electrical connection.

Engine compartment

Basic information

WARNING Never install a fuse with an amperage rating higher or lower than the rating specified on the fuse box cover. Using an incorrectly rated fuse may damage the electrical system or electronic control units and could cause a fire.

If an electrical component does not switch on or operate correctly, inspect the applicable engine-compartment fuse for an open circuit.

1. Make sure the ignition switch and headlight switch are both in the OFF position before opening the fuse box or removing a fuse.

2. Open the engine hood to access the engine-compartment fuse box.

3. Release the fuse box cover by pressing the retaining tab, then lift the cover upward carefully.

4. Remove the applicable fuse with the fuse puller. Grip the fuse firmly and pull it straight out without twisting it.

The fuse puller is stored in the center of the fuse block located in the passenger compartment.

5. Inspect the removed fuse. If fuse A is open, replace it with new fuse B of the same specified amperage rating.

6. If the replacement fuse opens again, the circuit may have an electrical problem that requires diagnosis and repair. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service rather than continuing to replace fuses.

NOTE: Depending on the equipment configuration of your Nissan Murano, the vehicle may not use every fuse identified on the fuse box label.

Fusible links

If electrical equipment remains inoperative even though the related fuses are in good condition, inspect the fusible links in the holder. If a fusible link has melted, replace it only with the appropriate Genuine NISSAN part.

For inspection or replacement of fusible links, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for professional service.

Passenger compartment

WARNING Never replace a fuse with one rated above or below the amperage specified on the fuse box diagram. An incorrectly rated fuse may damage the electrical system or electronic control units and may create a fire hazard.

If electrical equipment inside the vehicle does not operate, check the corresponding passenger-compartment fuse for an open circuit.

1. Confirm that the ignition switch and headlight switch are in the OFF position before handling the fuses.

2. Use the fuse box diagram to identify and locate the fuse associated with the electrical equipment that is not operating.

3. Use fuse puller A to grip the fuse and remove it carefully from the fuse block.

4. Inspect the fuse. If fuse B is open, replace it with equivalent good fuse C that has the same specified amperage rating.

If the new fuse also opens, stop replacing the fuse and have the Nissan Murano electrical system inspected and repaired. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

NOTE: The vehicle may not be equipped with every fuse shown on the passenger-compartment fuse diagram.
