WARNING

• When changing or replacing tires, make sure all four tires are of the same type, such as Summer, All Season, or Snow, and that they have matching construction. A NISSAN dealer can provide information about the correct tire type, size, speed rating, and availability for the Nissan Murano.
• Replacement tires may have a lower speed rating than the tires originally installed at the factory and may not support the vehicle’s potential maximum speed. Never drive faster than the maximum speed rating marked for the installed tires.
• Installing tires that were not originally specified by NISSAN may interfere with the correct operation of the low tire pressure warning system. Select replacement tires that meet the applicable specifications for the vehicle.
• Always install tires of the same type, size, brand, construction, and tread pattern on all four wheels. Mixing tires may create a difference in circumference between the front and rear axles. This difference can interfere with the operation of the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system, potentially resulting in loss of vehicle control, personal injury, or death. Mismatched tires may also cause excessive or uneven wear and could damage the transmission, transfer case, or differential gears.

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) models

CAUTION

• ONLY use spare tires specifically approved for the AWD model. Installing an unsuitable spare tire may affect the operation of the all-wheel-drive system and related vehicle components.

If excessive tire wear is discovered, it is recommended that all four tires be replaced with tires of the same size, brand, construction, and tread pattern. Replacing the complete set helps maintain consistent tire circumference and balanced operation between the front and rear axles of the Nissan Murano AWD system. Tire pressure and wheel alignment should also be inspected and corrected as necessary, because improper inflation or alignment may contribute to accelerated or uneven wear. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

All season tires

NISSAN specifies All Season tires for some models to provide balanced performance throughout the year, including operation in light snow and on icy road surfaces. Their tread design and rubber characteristics are intended to support a range of seasonal driving conditions rather than being optimized exclusively for warm or cold weather.

All Season tires can be identified by the words ALL SEASON and/or the marking M&S on the tire sidewall. Check the markings on each tire to verify that the same type is installed on all four wheels.

Snow tires generally provide better traction in snow than All Season tires and may be more appropriate in regions that regularly experience heavy snowfall, prolonged freezing temperatures, or severe winter road conditions.

Summer tires

NISSAN specifies summer tires for some models to provide enhanced performance on dry roads. These tires are designed primarily for warm-weather driving, and their performance is substantially reduced when the Nissan Murano is operated on snow-covered or icy surfaces.

Summer tires do not display the “M&S” traction designation on the sidewall. Inspect the tire markings when determining which type of tire is currently installed on the vehicle.

If you expect to drive in snowy or icy conditions, NISSAN recommends installing SNOW tires or ALL SEASON tires on all four wheels. Using the same tire category at every wheel helps preserve predictable handling, traction, and braking response.

Snow tires

If snow tires are required, select tires that are equivalent in size and load rating to the original equipment tires. Tires with unsuitable dimensions or an insufficient load rating can adversely affect vehicle safety, steering response, stability, and handling.

Snow tires generally have lower speed ratings than factory-installed tires and may not correspond to the vehicle’s potential maximum speed. Always observe the maximum speed rating of the installed tires, regardless of the available road conditions or vehicle capability.

If snow tires are installed, all four must have the same size, brand, construction, and tread pattern. Installing a complete matching set helps the Nissan Murano maintain consistent traction and handling characteristics across both axles.

For additional traction on icy roads, studded tires may be used where permitted. Studs are designed to improve grip on certain frozen surfaces, but their suitability depends on road conditions and local regulations.

Some U.S. states and Canadian provinces prohibit or restrict the use of studded tires. Check all applicable local, state, and provincial laws before installing them. The skid resistance and traction of studded snow tires on wet or dry pavement may be poorer than the performance provided by comparable non-studded snow tires, so driving style and speed should always be adjusted to the road surface.
