To support smooth, safe, reliable, and economical operation, NISSAN provides two maintenance schedules that may be followed according to the conditions under which the Nissan Murano is normally driven. Each schedule specifies both mileage and time-based service intervals through 120,000 miles (192,000 km) or 192 months, allowing maintenance to be performed according to whichever limit is reached first.

For most owners, the odometer reading will determine when scheduled service is required. Additional maintenance Items for severe operating conditions

Additional maintenance for severe operating conditions is required when the vehicle is regularly driven under especially demanding circumstances. These conditions can place greater stress on the engine, fluids, filters, brakes, drivetrain components, and other systems, making more frequent inspection or replacement necessary. Follow the additional maintenance requirements if the Nissan Murano is primarily operated under one or more of the following conditions:

Oil control system

The vehicle is equipped with an oil control system that calculates the appropriate engine oil and oil filter replacement interval according to operating conditions. Rather than relying only on accumulated mileage, the system evaluates how the Nissan Murano is driven and adjusts the oil replacement display timing accordingly.

Severe driving conditions place additional demands on the engine oil and may cause the oil replacement indicator to appear earlier. After completing the oil and filter replacement, reset the display so the system can begin calculating the next interval correctly.
• Continuing to operate the vehicle with deteriorated engine oil may reduce lubrication effectiveness and cause engine damage.
• If the oil replacement indicator is reset before the oil is changed or becomes inoperative, replace the engine oil and filter within six months or 3,750 miles (6,000 km) of the previous oil change, whichever occurs first.
