WARNING

• Riding in a cargo area inside the vehicle is extremely dangerous.

  During a collision or sudden maneuver, anyone occupying a cargo area is far more likely to suffer serious or fatal injuries because the area does not provide the protection of a properly equipped passenger seat.

• Never allow anyone to ride in a part of the Nissan Murano that is not equipped with an approved seat and seat belt. Cargo areas are intended only for carrying properly secured items, not passengers.
• Make sure every occupant is seated in an appropriate seat and is wearing the seat belt correctly whenever the vehicle is moving.

Terms

Before loading passengers, luggage, equipment, or a trailer, become familiar with the following weight and capacity terms. Understanding these definitions will help you determine how much load the vehicle can safely carry without exceeding its specified limits:

• Curb Weight, or the actual weight of the vehicle, includes the weight of the Nissan Murano with its standard equipment, optional equipment, operating fluids, emergency tools, and spare tire assembly. It does not include passengers or cargo.
• GVW, or Gross Vehicle Weight, is the curb weight of the vehicle plus the combined weight of all passengers and cargo carried in or on the vehicle.
• GVWR, or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, is the maximum permitted combined weight of the unloaded vehicle, passengers, cargo, hitch equipment, trailer tongue load, and any other optional equipment. The applicable GVWR is printed on the F.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.S.S. certification label and must not be exceeded.
• GAWR, or Gross Axle Weight Rating, is the maximum allowable weight that may be supported by the front or rear axle.

  The individual front and rear axle ratings are shown on the F.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.S.S. certification label. Proper load distribution is necessary to keep the weight on each axle within its stated limit.

• GCWR, or Gross Combined Weight Rating, is the maximum permitted combined weight of the vehicle, its passengers, cargo, and any trailer being towed.
• Vehicle Capacity Weight, Load Limit, or Total Load Capacity refers to the maximum combined weight of occupants and cargo that may be carried in the vehicle. When towing a trailer, the trailer tongue weight must be counted as part of the cargo load. The applicable capacity is displayed on the Tire and Loading Information label.
• Cargo capacity is the remaining weight available for cargo after the combined weight of all occupants has been subtracted from the vehicle's stated load limit. Any additional equipment or trailer tongue load must also be included when calculating the available capacity.
