Automatic operation
Cooling and/or dehumidified heating (AUTO)
This operating mode can be used throughout the year because the system automatically regulates the cabin environment to maintain the selected temperature. Airflow distribution and fan speed are also adjusted automatically, reducing the need for repeated manual changes as conditions inside and outside the Nissan Murano vary.
1. Press the AUTO button on the control panel or touch the "AUTO" key on the display screen to activate automatic heater and air conditioner operation. The corresponding indicator will illuminate to confirm that AUTO mode is active.
2. Set the desired temperature by using the
,
controls or by moving the sliding bar on the corresponding side of the climate control screen.
- The temperatures for the driver's side and front passenger's side can be adjusted independently. To apply the same temperature setting to both sides, touch the "SYNC" key. The key will turn orange while synchronized operation is active. If the front passenger's temperature is changed independently from the driver's setting, the "SYNC" indicator will turn off and separate temperature control will resume.
NOTE:
- During hot and humid weather, a light mist may briefly appear from the vents as warm, moisture-filled air is cooled rapidly. This is a normal effect of the cooling process and does not indicate a system malfunction.
- To reduce power consumption, use automatic mode or ventilation mode when appropriate. When the AUTO
button and touch-screen key are illuminated in orange, the air conditioner system can regulate operation
more efficiently than when the AUTO controls are shown in white. In ventilation mode, the fans draw
outside air into the Nissan Murano passenger compartment without applying heating or cooling.
Because the system circulates fresh air without operating the heating or cooling functions, ventilation mode can significantly reduce energy consumption.
Heating (A/C OFF)
In this mode, the air conditioner cooling and dehumidifying function remains off. Select A/C OFF operation when cabin heating is required without air conditioner operation.
1. Press the AUTO button or touch the "AUTO" key to activate automatic heater and air conditioner control. The corresponding indicator will illuminate.
2. Touch the "A/C" key to switch off the air conditioner function. The key will turn white to indicate that A/C operation is no longer active.
3. Adjust the desired temperature by using the
,
controls or by moving the sliding bar on the corresponding side of the display.
- The driver's-side and front passenger's-side temperatures can be selected independently while the "SYNC" key is white. Each occupant can therefore choose a separate temperature setting for their side of the cabin.
- The passenger compartment temperature is maintained automatically according to the selected settings. The system adjusts fan operation and airflow distribution as needed to provide consistent heating inside the Nissan Murano.
Airflow distribution and fan speed are also regulated automatically, allowing the climate control system to maintain the selected passenger-compartment temperature without requiring frequent manual adjustments.
NOTE: This heating mode is not recommended when the windows begin to fog, because the air conditioner is switched off and dehumidification performance is reduced. Select a defogging or defrosting mode when clearer visibility is required.
Dehumidified defrosting or defogging
1. Press the
Front defroster button on the heater and air
conditioner control panel. The button will illuminate orange to indicate that front defrosting mode is
active.
2. Use the
,
Temperature controls to select the desired temperature
for the corresponding side of the passenger compartment.
- To remove ice from the outside of the windows more quickly, increase the fan speed to its maximum setting. The stronger airflow will direct more conditioned air toward the windshield.
- After the windshield has been cleared and visibility is restored, use AUTO to return the Nissan Murano climate system to normal automatic operation.
- When the
front defrost mode is activated, the air conditioner
switches on automatically when the outside temperature is more than slightly above freezing.
Air recirculation also switches off automatically so that outside air can enter the passenger compartment. Introducing fresh air helps reduce interior humidity and improves windshield defogging performance.
Remote Engine Start with Intelligent Climate Control
On vehicles equipped with automatic climate control and the Remote Engine Start function, the system may automatically begin heating or cooling after Remote Engine Start is activated. The selected operation depends on the outside temperature and the temperature inside the Nissan Murano. During remote-start operation, the climate control display and buttons remain available for use. When Remote Engine Start activates defrosting mode, the rear window defroster and equipped comfort features—including the heated seats, climate-controlled seats, and heated steering wheel—may also switch on automatically to help prepare the passenger compartment before driving.
