Hazard warning flasher switch
Press the hazard warning flasher switch to alert other road users when the Nissan Murano must be stopped or parked because of an emergency. When the switch is activated, all turn signal lights flash simultaneously to make the vehicle more visible.
WARNING
- If an emergency requires you to stop, move the vehicle as far away from the traveled portion of the road as safely possible. Choose a location where the vehicle will not obstruct traffic or create an additional hazard.
- Do not operate the hazard warning flashers while driving on a highway unless unusual circumstances require the vehicle to travel so slowly that it may present a danger to surrounding traffic.
- The individual turn signals will not operate while the hazard warning flashers are active. Other drivers therefore may not receive a separate indication when you intend to turn or change lanes.
The hazard warning flashers can operate regardless of the ignition switch position, allowing them to remain active even when the engine is not running.
Some jurisdictions may restrict or prohibit use of the hazard warning flasher switch while the vehicle is moving. Follow all applicable local traffic laws.
Emergency engine shut off
If an emergency situation requires the engine to be shut off while the vehicle is moving, use one of the following procedures. Be aware that switching off the engine while driving may reduce assistance from certain vehicle systems and can make the Nissan Murano more difficult to control.
- Press the push-button ignition switch rapidly three consecutive times within less than 1.5 seconds, or
- Press and hold the push-button ignition switch continuously for more than 2 seconds.
